Normally we don't comment on the ad page, however reel to reel tape recorders are giving way to the cassette format in 1972.  One instance jumped out which was the Audio Magazine Special Tape Issue.  While it profiled reel to reel recorders with several pages of specs, not one company advertised a reel to reel recorder in the issue.

The Stereo Review March 1972 issue cover (pictured left) seems to also reflect the fading of the reel tape recorder.  There were no listings of R2R models in the issue similar to what you see to the right and only a few reel tape recorder ads.

Also while we don't include cassette recorders in our collection, it is interesting to see Ampex's ad for their Micro 155.
